Need a tool to complete a project but are reluctant to buy new?  REAL operates a Tool Library in a corner of the REAL Deal Store that might have just what you need.

For a membership fee, members of the public to can borrow tools from our collection for a week at a time.   

The idea is to keep perfectly usable tools in use, reduce the need for everyone to buy a new tool that might just gather dust after a few uses, and to give those with limited space or income the opportunity to access tools.

We have established a set of  about 100 tools, mostly hand held power tools.  See the catalogue.  We are going low tech for now, so will provide an updated PDF as our collection changes.   Tools will have to be picked up and returned during store hours:  Wed – Sat., 10 a.m.  – 1 p.m., although reservations can be made any time during store hours, 10 am. – 5 p.m.

Those wishing to use the Tool Library will be asked to purchase an a membership.  Memberships can be purchased for a 12 month period for $45.  We are also offering an introductory six month membership for $25.

If you are decluttering or downsizing, and have some gently used tools you would like to donate to this initiative, please contact REAL.    At the moment we are trying to increase the variety of garden tools we have to offer.  We are also looking for volunteers, particularly those who are knowledgeable about tools or who can help maintain power tools.
