REAL is now 35 years old! Our environmental organization began with a meeting of concerned citizens on Oct. 31, 1989. Through the years our small non-profit has been involved in dozens of small scale, hands on, local projects meant to show people that they can make a difference.
Our 35th anniversary project was the Mini Forest planted October 5 in Hyland Park, Smiths Falls. There are many people to thank, but especially the volunteers, the Town of Smiths Falls, and Steve Rauche of Diggin’ It Nursery. For more on the project see our webpage.
It will be interesting to see the forest develops! Throughout October a series of “REAL Reflections” were posted on our Facebook page, featuring some of the highlights from our 35 year history. If you missed them, you can also available on a REAL Reflections page of our website. You may remember some of the other ways REAL has celebrated our anniversary milestones.
We welcome the community to participate in our programs, join our mailing list, become a member, become a volunteer, or donate to the cause. REAL is a registered charitable organization and can issue tax receipts.
