REAL has a number of garden implements you might be interesting in borrowing to get your yard in shape this spring. The Tool Library has recently acquired a cordless trimmer and and cordless pole saw, both new appliances. Our collection also includes some hand pruners, a battery powered hedge trimmer, a ten foot lopper, an electric chainsaw and a leaf blower.
REAL operates a tool library in a corner of the REAL Deal Reuse Store. A membership fee of $25 for six months or $45 for a year allows members to borrow anything from the collection of over 100 tools for a week at a time. The majority of the tools are handheld battery or electric and are intended for home handyperson projects. Popular rentals have included palm sanders, a table saw and a tile cutter, but we expect these garden implements will be popular with Tool Library members this season.
REAL also accepts tool donations. If you are downsizing or decluttering and have a tool you would like to contribute to our library so that it will get used, please get in touch. REAL would be interested in acquiring: a mini rototiller, a power washer, an electric lawn dethatcher, a spreader, and a cultivator. Sorry, we are unable to accept gas powered appliances. Please also consider if you are comfortable with the tool being sold through the REAL Deal store if we can’t use it or we get duplicates. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have tools to donate (and include a photo if you can) so we can assess and make necessary arrangements.
The REAL Tool Library at the REAL Deal Store is open Wednesday through Saturday. While we would appreciate tool rental and returns take place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., we will endeavour to help you anytime during store hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. When purchasing a membership, please bring some identification such as a drivers licence. See the Tool Library page on this website for more details. Or drop by the store and someone will be happy to show you what we have available.
